Master's of Light

Light is a key in photography, regardless of all the technology behind the process. Light is the key. With out light in photography there is a blank black canvas. Adding light, as paint is a key in creating an image.

To be Digital or Not

Let me preface by saying, its about the image itself and not the media the image is printed. Even the definition of photography to contain radiant energy - what the hell? (definition)

Last time I checked Photography was graphing with light, i.e. Photo=light and Graph=marking or graphing. What is Radiant energy? Well by Webster anything that basically emits a "radiant energy to a surface is a photograph or part of photography. In that case let me just start changing definitions to fit my life just because it fits, this is ridiculous.

I am a photographer, I create photographs on light sensitive material. Nothing to do with radiant energy. Photographs are on a porous surface that contains materials that leave a image.

My two cents!

Taking my profession Seriously

I was going through some forums; a particular site that deals with photographers and models. And what I am discovering is that there is a whole grouping of people who call themselves photographers based on the fact they take images with a digital camera they purchased, and now because they can snap away 50 at a time and use photoshop, they call themselves photographers. I think things should change, I spend the last 15 years doing nothing but study photography, the traditional method. I have not looked into digital processing too too much other than video and I am a true artesian with light, as my profession dictates I do so, there for those that can truly explain light show light and use light we are the ones that are called photographers. If you have to ask how do you shoot in the dark on a professional shoot, you probably should not be photographing and leave it up to a professional.
